This University of South Australia Heath Innovation Building (HIB) is another project located within the North Terrace Biomed facility. The new $247m health and research facility, designed to support a collaborative and holistic approach to health research, features a Centre for Cancer Biology (CCB), Museum of Discovery (MOD) and an Innovation and Collaboration Centre. The building opened in 2018.
Opened in early 2017, the 14-level Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences building, next door to SAHMRI, is part of the Adelaide University Health and Biomedical Precinct. With a project cost of $246 million, the hub will be an internationally recognised facility where students have access to new learning spaces, lecture halls, skill-based laboratories and medical training simulation.
Opened in late 2017, the new Royal Adelaide Hospital is South Australia’s flagship hospital. A 275,000m multi-storey building consisting of 40 operating theatres and 800 beds, including 100 same-day beds, the hospital treats an estimated 85,000 inpatients and 400,000 outpatients every year.
The Great Hall, now known as Pridham Hall, is the University of South Australia’s newly commissioned convention hall, due to open in 2018. The facility will feature a full sports centre and swimming pool, with auditorium facilities for graduations, exams and cultural experiences.
The Adelaide Oval redevelopment began construction in 2012, with two new grandstands and a refresh of the current amenities at the facility. With the aim of being the sporting destination for South Australia, Adelaide Oval is now home to the AFL teams the Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power, a variety of Australian local and international cricket as well as hosting a series of domestic and international sporting events throughout the year.
The Glenside campus is made up of several mental health buildings spread over a large site. The development involved building a special veterans treatment centre at the site, focused on treating post traumatic stress disorder, as well as housing an outpatient facility.
The new $100 million Adelaide Botanic High School was opened in 2019 and is South Australia’s first vertical secondary school. The building contains state-of-the-art science, design and technology laboratories, a modern library and research centre, indoor gymnasium and fitness studio, performing arts theatre and a cafeteria.
The Clarence Correctional Facility is located in Grafton, NSW and once complete will accommodate 1,700 inmates. It will feature state-of-the art security and surveillance, and focus on rehabilitation to help reduce the rate of reoffending.
Hoyts Tea Tree Plaza is a refurbished and extended 12-screen cinema complex, housing the state’s first Hoyts Lux, which offers superior seats and a dine-in menu, created by celebrity chef Manu Feildel. It is part of the new $50 million dining and entertainment precinct in the Tea Tree Plaza shopping centre. The refurbishment includes existing cinema corridor, cinemas 1 to 9, front-of-house and back-of-house areas. The extension includes new cinema 10, lux cinema 1 and 2, ticketing lux lounge, amenities, kitchen and multi-purpose spaces.
