Project

new Royal Adelaide Hospital

(2012 - Current) Medical Gas System, Dry Fire System, Pneumatic Tube System, Refrigeration System

When complete, the new Royal Adelaide Hospital will be a 275,000m2 multi-storey building, consisting of 40 operating theatres and 800 beds including 100 same day beds. It is estimated the hospital will treat more than 400,000 outpatients per year.

The Project

Drafting Solutions has been engaged to provide fully coordinated shop drawings in Autodesk Revit for Medical Gas, Pneumatic Tube, Dry Fire & Refrigeration systems.

The Challenge

The coordination process for this project has been very challenging, with tight ceiling spaces and a complex reticulation of services throughout the building. The services coordination included in-ceiling services, reflected ceiling plans and wall elevations throughout the building.

The Solution

Drafting Solutions provided coordinate files to the site teams, allowing them to mark out penetrations, pipework and pipe hangers with surveyor’s equipment. This streamlined the set-out and installation of services, greatly reducing the man hours on site.

Since the start of the project, we have dedicated over 6,500 drafting hours, managed over 230 3-D model files and created approximately 575 detailed shop drawings.
